Electronic Discovery
This area of the law deals with evidence in electronic form, typically referred to as ESI (Electronically Stored Information). There are different aspects to the process of getting this evidence admitted into a court, namely:
- identification
- preservation
- acquisition
- processing
- review
- analysis
- production
- presentation
Each of those elements is a sub-category in themselves. One other area of electronic discover is computer forensics. Computer forensics is a specialization of electronic discovery, and forensics specialists (such as Ron) perform a much more detailed and nuanced analysis of data on personal computers, smartphones, tablets, servers, and routers.
